The Book of Life
Is your name written in the Lamb's book of life? Is that important?
There is no more important question or answer in the entire world than this one. Here's why!
John, in the book of Revelation, is speaking of Heaven itself, and says this, "Nothing impure will ever enter it (Heaven), nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life." (Rev 21:27) "Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire." Rev 20:16)
If your name isn't in Jesus' book of life, you will not enter Heaven according to the Word of God, and in fact will be cast into Hell. So how do you get your name in it? Once a person hears the Gospel message, belief in God and His Son Jesus becomes the foundation. One must then choose to accept Christ's teachings and render obedience to them through repentance of sin, confession of Christ as the Son of God, and joining one self with the blood of Christ in baptism for the forgiveness of sins. Christ then places you into His family and your name goes into the book!
People who reject the commands of Jesus Christ will prevent Him from registering their name in His book. Many in life choose to reject Christ entirely! Some, just want to put Him off till they settle down later in life, but that comes with considerable risk. The opportunity to repent may never come for some, life is uncertain. Once you die, no opportunity remains to get your name into the book.
"And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books." (Rev 20:12)
