Looking At Feet
Are your feet beautiful? I hope so! Now, keep your socks on, I don't mean are they attractive to look at.
In our world, we have a broad spectrum of people when it comes to their relationship with God. On one end are people who know God, know His will, love and serve Him. On the other end, people who deny God entirely. In-between, people who acknowledge God but refuse to serve Him, people who make an attempt, albeit half-heartedly, and some very well meaning who are just sincerely not in-step with what the Bible teaches.
One fact is true regardless of where you find yourself as a general rule, God sent His Son into the world to save it from sin. (John 3:16) The Apostle John says it this way, "... light is come into the world" which is the Good News of peace, salvation from sin (Jesus Christ)!. The only problem is, "men love[d] darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil." (John 3:19)
So again, we have people who don't want to know the Good News that desperately need to, and many who need to know it better so that they might commit fully to obeying it. But how are they going to hear it, in order to believe it, in order to obey it? The Apostle Paul was asking the same questions in the book of Romans, and he provides the answer. "How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?" And how shall they preach, except they be sent? (Rom 10:14-15a)
Paul didn't need the people in the church in Rome to write back to him to answer the questions he asked here in his letter. Paul knew those listening to his letter being read would answer to themselves "they can't hear unless someone goes to them and preaches and that someone is us, because we have the Good News", so Paul followed up his questions with these encouraging words, "How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace,..." (Rom 10:15b)
