Put Them Into Practice
How do you put the Lord's words into practice? Or maybe the question needs to be 'Do you put the Lord's words into practice'? Exactly what is the question asking? In a nutshell, are you (and I) applying or making application into our lives, the teachings and commands of the Lord? In other words still, are we performing or going about our regular activities in step with what God wants and expects, or are we following our own desires?
All of those are questions, and there are answers to them. Are the answers acceptable to God?
Jesus, toward the end of what is considered His 'sermon on the mount', made certain that He expected the people to live in keeping with what He had just taught, and He used this parable to ensure they understood His intentions for their lives. He told them, "Therefore everyone who HEARS these words of mine AND PUTS THEM INTO PRACTICE is like a WISE man who built his house on the rock. The rains came, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against his house; yet it did not fall because it had its foundation on the rock. BUT everyone who hears these words of mine and DOES NOT put them into practice is like a FOOLISH man who built his house on the sand. The rains came down, the streams rose and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash." (Matt 7:24-27 Luke 6:46-49)
Are you wise today, living in sync with what Jesus taught, or foolish, having denied Him, and walking you own path outside of Him? Christ didn't leave any middle ground did he? Which one are you? Which one do you want to be?
