Using What God Has Given
If you post anything to FB, you know that occasionally Facebook brings up an old picture you posted and tries to get you to share it again. Happened to me just today, from 6 years ago (seems like one year ago). I posted a picture of a car in Abilene that had just left Lowes. They had bought some PVC pipe, that is 20 feet in length, and their car was only about 6 feet wide, so the pipe was sticking about 7 feet out both sides of the car, and they were driving down the center stripe trying not to hit other cars or street sign posts.
That may be a poor example, but at least it paints a picture for you. People sometimes have to make do with what they've got. In this case, they apparently didn't have access to a trailer.
We don't have everything we desire in this physical life either, yet when it comes to spiritual things, God reassures us we are "thoroughly equipped for every good work"... (2 Tim 3:17). He also tells us not to worry about the necessities (Matt 6:25-34). We are comforted in knowing that God "knows what we need before we ask"...(Matt 6:8).
So we may not have the money others have, or the talents, or the physical abilities, yet we have been given what we need in God's big plan. He just wants us to do the best we can with what we have, and maybe it means we drive down the middle of the proverbial "street" while people "point and take pictures" of us.
Lord, service to you may look odd to the world. They may laugh, point and ridicule. Our tools may not look as fancy as theirs, but you have given us what we need to get the job done. Help us to not hold back out of fear of being made fun of, but boldly go forward with confidence that You are with us. AMEN
