If Jesus Came Today

If you've heard many sermons in your life, you likely have heard one where the preacher asks, "If Jesus came today, do you know for absolute certain that you would be saved"?. Maybe you left answering with an absolute "yes". Maybe you had to say "no". Maybe you were like most people are, and you answered, "I hope so".

When scripture is understood correctly, you can answer the question with confidence. Maybe you just need someone to point you to what God has to say, you can certainly read it for yourself. The Bible is clear about God's commands, yet various religions distort those teachings.

It's unfortunate that so many follow the teachings of man, in fact, most people do. Much of what they teach, especially when it comes down to how to call upon the name of the LORD simply isn't found in the Bible, but sadly most people don't know that and haven't ever tried to find it. Family tradition has a lot to do with that, as well as a general feeling of acceptance by God, whether or not our feelings match God's commands.

We'd like to show you what the Bible says. There is no need to take our word for it. The LORD tells mankind how to call on Him, and people who haven't heard how obviously can't do it. So how do people learn how? Paul says, "How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?" (Rom 10:14)

The definition of "a preacher" 2000 years ago probably wasn't a job title, it was a description of what one was recognized for, and there are people within the church who are certainly willing to help guide anyone interested to find out the truth for themselves, and it's only the truth that sets men free from sin (John 8:32).

The Apostle Paul was told what to do in order to call on the name of the LORD in Acts 22:16. We are told that in order to be saved, we must re-enact the death, burial and resurrection our Lord Jesus. Romans 6:3-10 is very clear how we do that. Acts 2:38 tells us how to rid ourselves of sin so that God's Spirit can live in us. These and a host of other passages direct us how to call on the name of our LORD, and what God expects from us. It would be our privilege to study with anyone seeking to understand God's plan.
