Word of God/Sword of God
The older I get, the more I see that changes going on in our world don't track with what the Bible teaches. I've seen many changes in my lifetime, and I'm not as old as some of you reading this. I don't like what I see.
There is a satirical FB site called the Babylon Bee. It has some religious affiliation, and they use satire and humor to hammer home some topics. Sometimes the satire exposes the pure madness of some of their stories. While not true at all (remember it's satire), they really show the sad, often hypocritical, sometimes pure parallel of what many of us consider ridiculous nonsense going on in our society.
Today, they ran a story with this headline, "California Christians Must Now Register Bibles As Assault Weapons". The story included some statements such as, "Many national public safety groups and political action committees praised the new law, saying that it will foster safer and more tolerant communities and save many people from having to hear words that conflict with their own worldview presuppositions."
Ahhh, as I said, it's uncanny how close their satire is to reality.
We also know, because people shout hate speech every day, that some would like to see anything and everything done to keep Christians from voicing a different opinion from their own, even if it means doing away with a Divinely authored history book nearly 2000 years old. If they could have their way, there would be a law. There would be a Bible burning event in every city in America. They would be proactive in doing away with these 'Assault Books'.
You know in reality the Bible is an assault book, it's just that our Creator, the God of this world, is using His written Word to do the assaulting (fighting) against sin, so that He can save mankind from Hell. Remember Hebrews 4:12, "For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart."
The author(s) of a Bible commentary (The MSG) put it like this, 'God means what he says. What he says goes. His powerful Word is sharp as a surgeon’s scalpel, cutting through everything, whether doubt or defense, laying us open to listen and obey. Nothing and no one is impervious to God’s Word. We can’t get away from it—no matter what.'
They may write a law someday, outlawing reading or possession of a Bible, but the Word of God will stand forever. No law will ever take it away.
