Decisions, Decisions

My desire to stay informed is in conflict with my desire to stay sane. So goes the world we live in!

Much goes on in our world. As Christians, it's usually pretty easy to filter through most of the noise. Numerous things affect our filters, like our values, our age, where we live, our family history, our education, even our gender sometimes. Most importantly, we use our faith and knowledge of scripture.

After most of the garbage has been filtered out, often times we still face some decision making. I pray about such matters, and almost always tell God that "I'm not sure on this, I need some help. If I've reached the wrong conclusion, please straighten me out!". I'm sincere in asking this, because I know I have a little gullibility in me, I don't know everything, and I may have been misinformed or misled. We need to be careful that facts and Godly principles drive our decisions, and not our emotions alone.

I also look to scripture. Isn't it comforting to know that there is not a problem that exists in this world, but what God hasn't provided the path to the correct answer in His Word? Every problem, every issue, every circumstance, God has provided direction in scripture.

In our walk with God, we want to get it right. God only expects us to do our best, He's given us no supernatural power to exceed that limitation, so often, we turn to Him, and we are correct in doing so. If only our world would do the same.

So as we tune out the distractions (Luke 5:16) we try and look through our Godly filters, (Matthew 6:33, Prov 19:20), we narrow down our choices (Col 3:2, James 4:1), and we make a decision (Matt 7:7, James 1:22). Having done that, we still need to do one thing, Thank God for His guidance in our decision (Psalm 107:1, Eph 5:20)
