Helpless? Only without God!
“God won’t give you more than you can handle.” We’ve heard this often and even said it trying to comfort others. But it’s just not true!
It is true that God provides a way out of temptations 1 Cor 10:13.
Additionally, we are never alone if we have the Spirit. Supported by God, the above statement is true! We can do all things through Christ who gives us the strength we need Phil 4:13.
But by our own power, it’s relatively easy to have more than we can handle. In order for us to truly understand dependence upon God, He does allow us to be pushed beyond our own abilities.
The Apostle Paul says, “For we do not want you to be unaware, brothers, of the affliction we experienced in Asia . . . For we were so utterly burdened beyond our strength that we despaired of life itself. Indeed, we felt that we received the sentence of death” (2 Cor. 1:8-9). Ever felt like Paul?

In the big picture, we really are helpless without God, and many things in life are indeed more than we can handle, alone. Isn’t it comforting to know that we don’t have to!
