On-board With God
Don't know if you saw it or not, on the news a couple of days ago, two guys jumped INTO an airplane over the Swiss Alps @ about 170 mph. The door on the plane was about 3-1/2 feet by 4-1/2 feet. This took multiple practice runs, lots of work and dedication, and there were multiple failures before they accomplished it. *Google it if you wish.* Makes jumping out of a plane look really easy in contrast.
In our Christian walk, we are basically trying to do the same thing, accomplish a very difficult task. We are running a race that requires daily practice, and we are aiming for a very precise result. We experience many failures along the way, but we need to keep trying, keep believing that we can do what we are trying to achieve. Living for the world would be like jumping out of that plane, living for God is like jumping INTO it.
God is with us along our journey. Yesterday, we mentioned that God lives in each of us who have been baptized into Christ. Sometimes we pray and our mindset is that God is in Heaven listening, and He is, but He is also right beside us, because He lives in us. Our prayers don't have to travel to some far away place that we don't know where is, they only have to be heard by God's Spirit inside of us, the Spirit that intercedes on our behalf before the Father. "In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans." (Rom 8:26)
God doesn't want us to be weak in our prayers, but we need not worry either if we haven't yet achieved strength, "And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God." (Rom 8:27) In our walk with God, if we don't get it right the first time, 2nd time, or for a long time, we need to keep at it, keep trying, and God will get us through the door.
