You Can't Straddle The Fence
There are some sobering things in this world. We get to see some from time to time. But is there anything, that when you examine the consequences now and for eternity, more sobering than man rejecting God? The created rejecting his Creator? Is there ultimately anything in this world more serious?
In Romans 1:21, Paul says “For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened.” Romans 1:21 NIV.
By rejecting God, men deny Him His proper place. They deny God the praise and adoration that are duly His, for which gratitude should be conveyed. “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights...” James 1:17 NIV
Men spiritually shake their fists at God in rebellion. Of these people, Paul says “The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness,”. Romans 1:18 NIV. This ungodliness and unrighteousness makes God angry, and is at the root of man's rejection.
God doesn't have to put up with it, yet He “is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance." 2 Peter 3:9 NIV. He constantly provides the means for change.
Today, are you with God or against Him? It's impossible to straddle the fence, either you have chosen God and offered yourself to Him fully, or you have rejected Him. The good news is if you have rejected Him up till now, it's not too late to repent. Submit yourself to God, learn and obey His will, and leave your life of rejection. He stands ready to ..."reward those who earnestly seek him.” Hebrews 11:6 NIV
