Our Report Card

If we got a report card from God on a regular basis, what would it look like?

Now, before even making some comments, scripture clearly teaches that our approval by God is not based on a point system. We don't get special points, or deductions like we see in secular situations, and we can't earn our salvation. But we also know from scripture that God does watch and He cares what we do, and He does describe the life He wants us to live. With that in mind, let's answer the question above.

If you are like me, you would like to know that your grades are good. If God is documenting the number of times we hurt people, say cruel things or act badly vs the number of times we love and do good, what's our grade? God sees the hugs we give, and the number of times we express love too. Are the frequency of these affecting our grade?

Our life is full of tests too. Are we passing them, or failing them? Do our bible studies come before our school studies, not necessarily in terms of the time of day, but the importance we give them? 2 Tim 2:15 tells us to study, so that we will be able to learn and tell others about Jesus. Are we doing our homework in this respect, so that when the opportunity presents itself, we are prepared to answer?

There will come a day when it will be too late to study. We won't be able to improve our grades then, what He assigns will be what we get!

So here's the question, if Jesus were to review our report card today, will it be filled with good things that make Him happy, or will it be filled with things that bring shame, to us and Him?
