Just As I Am

I'm possibly the last person on the planet to hear the new version of "Just As I Am". It really was thought provoking when we sang it twice Sunday.

Christians I think, often get a bad wrap. You can find some who are 'Holier than Thou', and they leave the wrong impressions about Church and those of us in it. But most Christians I know, fully recognize our shortfalls, our sin, and our insufficiency. That's why it's so important that people understand why God put us in the Church, and why that song was so powerful.

We come to Jesus just as we are, and while we strive to get better, we are still problem ridden, weak, spiritually poor, and human. So the words of the song ring true.

Lamb of God I come, I come.....
I come broken to be mended,
I come wounded to be healed,
I come desperate to be rescued,
I come empty to be filled,
I come guilty to be pardoned, by the blood of Christ the Lamb.
And I'm welcomed with open arms, praise God, just as I am.

That's why the Church! Acts 2 says God puts us in His church when He saves us. It's the hospital for Christian's spiritual sicknesses. It's family to us, our help, our place of acceptance. Our brothers and sisters help us with all those things that plague us spiritually.

We can't earn our place with self righteousness. We are made righteous by His blood. “Jesus answered them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.””  ‭‭Luke‬ ‭5:31-32‬ ‭NIV
